Note C-mut VIPMtFAL was the result of an S173T substitution in Gag epitope VIPMSFAL (VL8). A peptide containing VIPMtFAL escape was less well recognized than wt VL8 as proved by testing for γ-IFN and TNF-α production with intracellular cytokine staining (ICS) of a VL8-specific CTL cell line and its HLA-Cw*0102-transfected APC.
