Patient Note WEAU or Patient 1, infected at age 29, presented to University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital. 16 and 40 days after onset of symptoms, CD4 count was 358 and 971 cells/ml respectively. Transmission partner was SUMA or Patient 4 [Clark1991; PMID: 1900576]. WEAU established high persisting VL (90,109 HIV-1 RNA copies/ml at 212 DFOSx) and had a steep decline in CD4 cell count after 40 DFOSx to 30 cells/ml within 2 yrs [Piatak1993; PMID: 8096089]. HLA serotyping from Borrow1994 [PMID 8057491]
