• 29 ART-naive Chinese patients chronically-infected with clade B HIV-1 were studied to find a positive correlation between HLA-DQB1*06 and CD4 counts as well as T-cell responses to epitopes within the HIV-1 Nef core region. 9/10 Nef peptides tested were recognized in 18 (62.1%) subjects. DQB1*06 is a protective helper Class II HLA.
• Nef core peptide N18, LTFGWCFKLVPVEPEKVE, elicited response in 2/29 HLA-DQB1*06+ patients with an average magnitude of 565.1 SFU/10⁶PSMC. This peptide received the highest magnitude of EliSpot responses.
