Notes

• A DNA vaccine, HIVBr27, was designed with 27 tandem HLA-DR-binding peptides predicted by the TEPITOPE algorithm, and was used to immunize BALB/c mice. Broad, cross-clade and polyfunctional CD4+ and CTL responses including proliferation and production of IFN-γ, TNF-α were detected against the vaccine in wt and transgenic mice.
• Helper epitope, LPPIVAKEIVASCDKC, binds 7/17 (41%) HLA-DR, 1/11 (9%) HLA-DQ and 3/8 (38%) HLA-DP tested. It was recognized by 4/9 patients carrying an HIV-1 BF recombinant.
• In vitro binding assays show that epitope Integrase(28-43)) binds the following HLA: DP, DQ, DRB1*0101, DRB1*0401, DRB1*0802, DRB1*1001, DRB1*1101, DRB4*0101, DRB6*0101; I-A^b, I-A^d.
