Notes

• Chronically infected adolescent carriers of the protective (favorable prognosis) HLA allele B*57 targeted p24 mostly as compared to carriers of regular progressing B*35/B*53 who dominated their targeting against Nef. Thus differential targeting of HIV proteins distinguished slow progressing B*57 HLA-carriers more than quality of T-cell response.
• Nef-YY9 was the immunodominant epitope tested for 6 B*35/B*53-carrying subjects. Peptide avidity was a log higher as compared to B*57 carriers' most immunodominant epitope used, Gag-Gag-KF11. Both groups had similar cytokine production.
• For epitope AISPRTLNAW, or IW9, ISPRTLNAW, tested in B*57 carriers, a few mutations were observed as escapes.
