Notes

• A donor-recipient pair infected with HIV subtype CRF01_AE were studied during chronic infection. The male donor (N094) was believed to have acquired HIV infection in Thailand and infected the recipient (N107) in the UK. Both partners were diagnosed more than 2 years later. Both expressed protective HLA alleles, but nonetheless failed to control viremia. Immune responses were studied in the recipient partner, who expressed both B*27 and B*57 alleles.
• Patient, recipient N107, infected with CRF01_AE had no EliSpot response to B*57-restricted B-clade Gag epitope KAFSPEVIPMF, KF11, or its A163G, S165N variant, KgFnPEVIPMF, which is the clade-CRF01_AE epitope.
• While donor N094 carried exclusively the CRF01_AE consensus epitope of KF!!, KGFNPEVIPMF, the recipient, N107 carried the consensus at 85% and 45% at 42 and 52 months post diagnosis. She also carried variant KGFNPEVvPMF at 15% and 55%, 42 and 52 mpd respectively.
