Notes

• 6 epitopes and their variants were tested for quantitative CTL recognition in a genetically diverse cohort of 26 HIV-1+ subjects from 12 countries, to determine response pattern as correlating to HLA genotype & autologous virus sequence. Cross-reactive epitopes were more similar, with a single substitution decreasing recognition by 40%. Central residues in an epitope were more important for recognition.
• Epitope QY9(73-81), QVPLRPMTY, elicited CTL response when tested in 3 patients - 2295 (Caucasian female, experienced some treatment, autologous virus Clade C); 2792 (Caucasian male, treatment naive, autologous virus Clade B); 2840 (African female, treated, autologous virus Clade D).
