Notes

• An ART-naive cohort was used to define CTL responses to HLA-A*6802, a highly prevalent allele in sub-Saharan Africa that contributes greatly to the HIV-1 clade C immune response. 4 novel epitopes were experimentally defined as restricted by HLA-A*6802, mostly from Pol and Vpr. 4 more overlapping peptides (OLPs) were also identified as containing A*6802-restricted epitopes.
• Gag-TA10, TTSTLQEQIA, is a novel, optimal epitope with intermediate binding to HLA-A*6802 that was found within OLP33, SDIAGTTSTLQEQIAWM. Optimization of epitope sequence was by peptide titration, HLA binding and cytokine staining.
