Notes

• CTL from 30 treatment-naive subjects, controllers or progressors, were tested for IFN-γ and IL-2 EliSpot response by 1,300 11-mer peptides and variant peptides covering at least 5% of all sequences in this LANL HIV database in 2010. Controllers showed lower recognition of variant peptides than progressors did, as in both groups variant recognition positively correlates with VL (viral load). Increased Gag-specific sequence coverage and coverage of commonly-occurring variants, however, correlates inversely with VL. Similarly, sequence coverage, not variant recognition, correlates with increased recognition of a panel of HIV founder viruses.
