2556: In an in vitro model, 2556 was able to penetrate the human blood-brain barrier, and was able to kill transmigrated HIV-infected PBMCs without damage to the barrier. McFarren2016 (immunotherapy)
2556: MAb 2556 was isolated from the PBMCs of an individual living in Cameroon, and assumed to be infected with a non-B clade strain of HIV-1. MAb 2556 bound to a linear epitope in the immunodominant disulphide loop of gp41. It bound all tested viruses from different HIV-1 subtypes expressed on the surface of 293T cells. Both the native and a radiolabeled form (²¹³Bi-2556) bound the gp41 antigen by ELISA. In a mouse model, the radiolabeled 2556 killed infected T cells.
