Sequential immunizations of mice with V3 peptides from clade B isolates resulted in an Ab response capable of neutralizing homo- and heterologous forms of the CXCR4-tropic HIV-1 MN and CCR5-tropic HIV-1 JR-CSF. In contrast, repeated immunizations with a single V3 peptide resulted in Ab response that neutralized only type-specific laboratory-adapted homologous viruses.
