• Monoclonal antibodies to this epitope have distinct phenotypes -- 41-7 and 1B8.env were found to be not neutralizing, 2F11 possibly enhancing, and clone 3 beneficial -- isolated mimotope-presenting phages corresponding to the immunodominant gp41 epitope CSGKLIC were used to study the diversity of polyclonal responses in 30 HIV+ sera, and all but one of the patients reacted showing distinctive variable polyclonal recognition patterns.
