COMMENT The SIVmac239 and SIVmac251 infectious molecular clones are
related, and have been sequenced over the complete genome.
The name of this clone, T43 BL 20-9, refers to time point 43 weeks
post infection, blood sample, clone 20-9, taken from Rhesus macaque
individual Mm326-87. Mm326-87 was injected with intravenously with
1 ml of virus stock which was prepared from the SIVmac239 molecular
clone via transfection of and propagation in rhesus macaque PBMCs
for 18 days, resulting in 100,000 units of reverse transcriptase
activity per ml of inoculum.
[1] reports that sequencing of several clones from a SIVmac239
viral stock used to infect another rhesus macaque, which had been
propagated on HuT 78 cells for 41 days prior to inoculation. Those
sequences showed that the majority of mutations accumulated in vivo
within the macaque, rather than in the HuT 78 cells.
